Not a happy story.

Today.. after all of that nonsense -

Last Sept. ( '09 ) she was a virgin that had never seen another redfoot since she was a year or so old! And now 8 months later she's digging a nest? This is not a debatable thread and I'm not looking for opinions on this. To me this is a very favorable surprise!

Is she a beauty in her 'nesting trance' or what?

She did lay a single egg.. very deep nest -

We have one girl named Tic Tac, who got her name based on the shape of all of her eggs. The elongated eggs are viable. I will post pics of her eggs in the oven. Congrats.

I guess I never got the story of why her laying would be such a surprise? ;)

Still, congratulations and I hope she produces many more.:D

Hi Terry;
I have had good results with oblong eggs.
Although "ODD" I don't consider them as "Malformed".
They tend to hatch just like the others.

I think it will be fine.

Great shots and you must be so pleased that she is working out and enjoying
being a well kept tort.
Animals do not reproduce unless they are comfortable and relaxed. Just my honest opinion.
Congrats!

I think what you are referring to is how does the hatchling fit in the egg (correct me if I'm wrong :) ) In the elongated eggs, instead of being creased in the middle at the waist (folded almost in half), it was creased along the spine from head to tail. I have only had one of the elongated eggs hatch, but there are more cooking.

I would be surprised if it was not good! If you saw breeding, I would guess it is probably good. I have had a number of elongated eggs that were exactly like that and they mostly hatched. Congrats! Maybe just just a first time girl? Douglas
