Well, here is the deal. I just found a Home's Hingeback egg!

The problem - the tortoises have been inside for a few weeks, as it has been quite chilly out. I was breaking down their summer enclosure when I found the egg.

It isn't dried out and appears perfect in every way, but on candling it, there are no veins or anything.

Is there any slim chance that it is viable? If so, how the heck do I incubate this thing?

Do Homes eggs go through diapause?

I have absolutely no idea, lol. They are near rainforest species, but, the incubation period is LONG, so again, I just don't know.

You can incubate like any other tortoise egg :D Temperatures should be 80 to 84F and humidity around 70 to 80%. They should also be on a slightly damp incubation medium. They can take quite a while to hatch, but not knowing how long the egg was outside and cool I'd be suprised if it did develop though.
Keep an eye on the female as she may nest again while inside.

Thanks, I was hoping to hear from both of you, Dan and Jacqui! I did see them mating a couple months ago, and I am very happy that she laid - at least I know she is willing! I will be keeping a closer eye on the substrate.
