Hello everyone, I have a friend with a tortoise. He's insure of what kind and I have an idea, but not sure either. It's fairly big, I wanna say maybe Russian, but doesn't look like one all at the same time. Here are a few pictures I'll try and get more later.
Aw...of course. Now that you've said it first, I see it too. A Texas tortoise! They most often don't have a nuchal scute, but then one pops up and it does have one. I have some with and some without.
Now you can see those gulars. Chris seems to be onto it for sure being a Texas tortoise. Had me stumped at the beginning. Some large scales on its forelimbs though. Cool looking specimen.
It is for sure a berlandieri. It has five claws on the front feet, Russians have only four. It's also not round (last pic, top-down of plastron). Russians are completely round.
