Hello everyone, I have a friend with a tortoise. He's insure of what kind and I have an idea, but not sure either. It's fairly big, I wanna say maybe Russian, but doesn't look like one all at the same time. Here are a few pictures I'll try and get more later.

Thanks guys!

It would be interesting to find out its approximate age.

Sorry to mix up the thread, but I was going to say Greek. Let's get @HermanniChris in on it. He'll know for sure.

Please post a plastron shot clearly. Certainly NOT a Russian or Greek no question about it . I am seeing a very old female G. berlandieri.

Aw...of course. Now that you've said it first, I see it too. A Texas tortoise! They most often don't have a nuchal scute, but then one pops up and it does have one. I have some with and some without.

I'll get some later maybe tomorrow, or later today. He does not have spurs on the butt area of that helps. I'll get pictures tho.

Now you can see those gulars. Chris seems to be onto it for sure being a Texas tortoise. Had me stumped at the beginning. Some large scales on its forelimbs though. Cool looking specimen.

So is it for sure a Texas tortoise? Should I try and get more pictures? What angels do you want?

It is for sure a berlandieri. It has five claws on the front feet, Russians have only four. It's also not round (last pic, top-down of plastron). Russians are completely round.
