Hi Ralph:

Welcome to the forum!!

We have a few reputable RF breeders on the forum, so all your questions will receive good answers.

I'm curious...what are all the letters behind your name?

RE: Welcome to TortoiseForum.org !

Oops! Sorry, Kelly!!

I have about 15 different kinds of turtle and tortoise. But my favorites are the Manouria emys phayrei (Asian Black or mountain tortoise) and the Aldabran tortoises. But then, the desert tortoises are also a favorite...oo..oo.oo...and the box turtles! How can I forget them? Well, I think you get the picture...(I've listed all of them in my bio, just click on my name)

Hi!

My name is Grant. I'm seven and just got my first tortoise, Rosie. A friend gave her to me. She had Rosie for two years and got her from someone else before that, so we're not sure how old Rosie is. I am wondering if you can help me figure out what kind of tort Rosie is. We're trying to figure out how to insert pics into the post.

Hello everone. I do not have a Tortoise yet, but have been considerring the idea for a couple years now. I think I'm getting much closer to making a commitment. Our local fish and reptile store usually has Sulcota Torts. I know I spelled that wrong. Anyway, thought I would spend some time learning what Tortoise owners deal with in regards to owning thier tortoises.

I am looking forward to getting my first Tortoise. I thinkk it would be great if I could adopt a turtle who does not have a long term home right now. We'll see how that works out.

Take care.

Hello! Our family has two tortoises. We have a 45# sulcata named Morris and a 8 inch long Leopard named Speedy. I found this site when searching for outdoor tortoise enclosure plans. There are some great ideas here and thank you!

Nice to find fellow cold-blooded baby enthusiasts! I'm Elspeth, and my little bundle of cuteness is named Penelope Cruiser. She's a Leopard Tortoise; hatched in '09.

she was listed as .1 '09 and I've been wondering: what does the .1 stand for?
I see it around herp sites: .1 .2 .0.0.2... what does it all mean?

Hi ElfDa:

Welcome to the forum!!

Since your baby was shown as 0.1 '09, it means that the breeder had his incubator set to hatch out females. But even so, its still pretty much a crap shoot. There really is no guarantee, but luck will lean towards female because of the temperature incubated at.
