Hi Spring: Welcome to the forum!!

I had trouble with the format here when I first gravitated from YAHOOgroups too, but once you get the hang of it you'll like it way better! Good to see you here.

Yvonne

Thanks to Gulf Coast for teaching me how to do the graphics. Can't wait until I see the next birthday person!!

Very good Yvonne! You learned how to do it and it looks great! :D

RE: Welcome to TortoiseForum.org !

Hi, my name is Maria and I am the owner of a 6-8 year old desert tortoise named Ronny. I am pretty sure it is a boy but still not 100% sure. He has his new home in my front patio with a cool hut, lots of food and his own personal audience - three cats and two dogs!
He has a shell deformity and I am doing my best to keep him in good health and hopefully reverse the problem. I don't know a whole lot about tortoises but I have already learned so much, esp from this forum.
Hope to learn much more and read about others experiences- and see all of the cute tortoises out there!

-Maria

Hi Maria:

to the forum!!

Can we see another picture of Ronny? I don't think he's a desert tortoise.

Welcome to the forum Maria :)

You can get him healthier, but you can never fix his shell. His shell will always look like that unfortunately. :(

Yes Yvonne he is a Desert tortoise :D

Hi, am new to this site. I have a ornate box turtle named Myrtle. She was found as a stray, in our church parking lot.
I have had her about 3 years. Have no idea how old she is.

RE: Welcome to TortoiseForum.org !

hi, another new member. i have a Bell's Hingeback, male, and a breeding (ack) pair of spider tortoises. i've had the Bell's since 1997 & the Spiders since 1998 (pre-CITES).
my female Spider laid one egg in June, which looks pretty viable so far. i haven't put it into diapause yet. i'm not sure if one egg is usual for a first clutch, but since it's nearly 1/5 her size i'd think they must have small clutches.
i also have a male Veiled chameleon, a male Schneider's skink & a male Bahamian anole (well, that one is my son's).
if anyone has egg advice, i'd love to hear it :)
