Recently there was a reptile show, and I picked up a new baby leopard tortoise. I'm somewhat knowledge and picked an active one. But recently I noticed that the little guy is blowing a bubble every now and then in his right nostril. He seems to be active and is a good eater, Im not sure if it's a respiratory infection, as he seems to only blow a bubble every time he opens and closes his mouth.

This is the caresheet you need to help your new tort thrive

Check the temperatures on there and make sure your tort is warm enough but not too hot and overheating.
Bubbles from the nose could be a sign of a RI - what is his breathing like?

Can you post pics of his enclosure and tell us what lamps for uvb, basking and night heat you are using and what his temps are at the moment to give a better idea of what could be causing this and you'll get more responses from members experienced with dealing with RIs. who could answer your question.

The bubbles do not occur as you decribed in totally healthy tortoises, so yes, it IS a respiratory infection.

The tortoise should be treated with ceftazidime to eliminate the infection.

This usually happens due to low night temps and open topped enclosures. Tell us more about how you are housing and heating the little guy. Warming things up will usually stop it in the early stages.
