I didn't know that coiled UVB bulbs could cause damage. I've been using one for a couple of, well, years, and I'm scared that I've damaged my Russian tortoise. Keep in mind that I have never taken my Russian outside (my dad hasn't gotten to getting him an outdoor pen and I honestly forgot about it for a while...I know that's bad but I'm getting to it), so this UV bulb has been my tortoise's only source of UV. I've also heard that the new UV bulbs are fine, but I don't think mine is new. How bad can damage from UVB bulbs get?
I'm also unsure if I am using the right light bulb for basking. I've spoken to my dad about both bulbs and he said, "They literally say it's for reptiles, so it's got to be legit." I'm not really sure about that, seeing that there are so many things sold "for reptiles" that are actually harmful.
These are the bulbs I am using:
This is my tortoise's enclosure:
(I am aware that this enclosure is not suited for a Russian tortoise, I am speaking with my dad about getting a new one)
This is my tortoise, is there any damage that you can spot?
