After my somewhat panicked post earlier I thought I should actually introduce myself. I've had a sulcata for about 8 months now. She was 2 months old when I bought her from a local breeder. He said she's a female based on the temp he incubated her, but I know that may change once she's older and we can actually tell.

Eventually she'll live in the backyard but she's in a 40 gallon inside for now. She's very active and eats like crazy. She wanders around outside when the weather permits. She's grown pretty quickly and I'm hoping by spring she'll be big enough to move outside. I'm trying to stretch out her time in the 40 for as long as I can before upgrading.

She's looking great. Nice job. Don't be in a hurry to move her outside permanently. They do better in the more stable conditions indoors when they are little. SOME outside time everyday is great, but outside full time really slows them down until they get a little bigger. Its time to go ahead and update the enclosure. 40s are barely big enough for tiny hatchlings. Your tortoise needs a bigger enclosure now.
