Kane mat

Do you think it is possible to put a male and female plug. In line with the power cord?
I am trying to make it possible to make it easier. To unplug and clean the mat. My wife insists on pulling the mat out and cleaning it. That can sometimes be a daily thing. I let her know that we can just wipe the up. Then take out and clean occasionally.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I called Scott at Kane. He said it would be ok to put a in line connector in but suggested to wrap to make it water/ moisture proof. So that defeats my purpose. Unless maybe I somehow keep the connector raised securely but able to remove. The only liquid I need to worry about would be urine.
He also said if the power cord needs total replacement. Replace with a 18 gauge cord. Seems like a great guy. Giving me that information. Instead of trying to sell a new mat.

Why would he suggest 18 gauge wire instead of 14 or 12, I wonder? Did he say a minimum of 18 gauge?

No just suggested 18 gauge.

Just talked to Scott. He says they use 18 gauge on their mats. Also said there would be no drawback using 12 or 14 gauge.

It only needs to be big enough for the wattage of the heat mat. 18 gauge is very common for cords.

14 gauge might not be too bad, but 12 gauge will be harder to fit/work with in the cord cap
