i'm not going to lie and i've said this before, i really don't think that a mixed breed is a RARE tortoise, i think it's a screw up and people trying to make more money off the 30 sulcatas a clutch that they get 3 times a year....

but i really think these would be so PRETTY!!!

I only know of one person that had hybrids and they were with G.p.p. The pictures imply that they are part G.p.b.

I don't believe this ad is...honest!!:(

Not 100% sure. I have seen these type of torts before, but what I was referring too was the practices and methods of this seller.

He keeps all his turtles and tortoises in one common area. They all eat, sleep, and poop in the same area (hence the reason why the leopard was able to mate his female).

Just be careful, I have been burned a few times by this person.

babcockii and pardalis breeding would not constitute a hybrid...same species, different ssp...no biggie, but what this guy is doing SUCKS!

A big +1 in my opinion. I sure hope the offspring are mules!

They look like hybrids to me.

Hard to say Mick, but the 2 species aren't very closely related so might not be fertile.

This is who I got my first Sulcata from (hatchling, named Sherman).

Cory is right, he mixes species and had Boxies out with the mom and dad Sullies, etc. I think he had adult CDT and Sullies, etc. together too. At the time, I was not informed this was not advised.

While some of the care info he gave me was correct, most was not... and as you saw when I first joined these forums, there were some vital things I needed to correct (diet, substrate, etc.).

Additionally, Sherman's shell was deformed (lopesided) when I got him. I do not think it still is, but while he was smaller it was defiantely obvious.

He was selling Leopards and Sullie hacthings when I got Sherman from him.-- I actually went to get a Leopard, but came home with a Sullie. He presents himself as a "rescuer", as he was apparently part of a CTTC Chapter, but he breeds Sullies and isn't the most informative to their buyers, so I would not call him a rescuer.

Before I found this forum, I did email him a few questions in regards to two other hatchlings I aquired (CDTs- Echo and Euclid) and he was helpful in telling me I was correct in the fact that they were CDT hatchlings (their previous owner didn't know what they were).

If its legit, its an abomination and this guy should be shunned. Not only for hybridizing two species, but for **** poor husbandry and housing technique.

Danny...I was referring to pardalis and babcockii offspring not being hybrids...either leopard ssp and sulcata breeding would definitely constitute a hybrid brood...that's just not right!

i definately agree with tom about the housing different species together, sulcatas are big enough to crush a box turtle if one took up the desire to do so.
