I am not sure. It seems like I read somewhere recommending just that, but common sense tells me no. It is bone and has nerves, so it seems like it would be painful and have to heal. @Yvonne G, is this a good solution?
Thanks Jodie, I have seen postings about filing rough edges on the shells and wondered about the edge of the plastron too. I can't say I've seen how other torts walk close up so this they may be normal.

So sorry to have read about Lola's case. Also sorry that I can't be of help here.

Wishes for him to get well SOON.

Thanks Gillian he seems fine in himself eating very well and is up and about. Last week he wasn't getting up as usual and this week he gets up OK but has been going to bed early. It may just be that the temp has dropped and we have had some storms, but I am keeping a close eye on him. They certainly keep us on our toes don't they?

Oh you bet they do despite their size.

Oli kept me worried this morning: he just WOULD NOT MOVE. 'Another bad day?' I thought. I ignored him for a while (though it hurt me deep inside). About two hours later he finally made his mind up and roamed around a little, then in the afternoon we went out for a 'walk' and you should have seen him there.... you wouldn't believe it's the same Oli that was sitting there like a log!
