What does everyone else use to put their tortoise's food in? Rockys is on a cutting board with a hut over it but he spreads it everywhere and makes a huge mess and it waste a lot of food also. What does everyone else do?View attachment 167401
He so adorable! I use a food dish, bought at the petstore, for mine. I recently upgraded that to the saucer you put under potted plants ( i dont know what its called). Only because the food dish wasnt big enough to fit all of the food I provide for her .

i dont know, I'm thinking maybe the whole hut and cutting board looks like a big play/sleeping area so he might be like "ohhh fun!" . let me know if his new food dish helps.

I use either a terra cotta plant saucer sunk into the substrate, or a big butter tub lid on its back.

There is really no way to avoid this entirely. Tortoises make a mess with their food for sure.

Mine all climb right in the middle and push the food all around before they start eating. Push it around half the pen i say. lol

Mine make a mess out of everything too. It bugged me at first but i have given up on keeping any organization of their enclosures. I just wish i could have crystal clear water in their saucer for longer than a second every morning.

I guess I'm just going to have to try to come to the conclusion that it'll never look perfect with my little wild tortoise in it! But the water bowls are one of the most aggravating. I'm gone for a minimum of 9 hours every day and I hate that he doesn't have clean water while I'm gone but I guess that's just part of it.

Yes, no matter how nice you make their homes, they will mess things up and rearrange it. I think its kind of cute though. and I have the same problem with my water. But if you change it out daily it will be fine.
