My large males are pretty flat on the bottom. but yours looks like a girl.
janiedough , with most tortoises even if you cant see the tale you can tell if they are male or female by the anal scutes. witch are the last two plates on the bottom portion of the shell (plastron) .
In most species the males anal scutes are spread far apart like a V shape or wider. Where as the females usual wrap around forming a U like shape.

OMGosh! Red Foot, you have just changed our lives, as I always thought of my lil leopard as "King" Tortie, but shoot, now I think the name needs to be changed, as it appears that he is a 'she'! LOL. Gonna have to give a new name some thought now, LOL.

Well, today my kids were hand feeding her and she sucked her head in and reared up, I thought she was going to ram them so I picked her up and lo & behold, she was flashing me 3" of tortoise pride, guess I have a male.
really because her anal scute looks really like a u shape and i was convinved percy was a girl.

janiedough, it can be tough to tell. especially when the sulcata posted looks very female but ends up having a penis!
if i were to venture a guess, i'd say percy looks like a male but an expert can give you a better opinion. have you asked your vet yet?

My GUESS would be male, but Percy just might be too small yet to tell. The female's anal scutes would be farther apart. (I'm guessing so that the egg can come out without breaking).
