This is what happens to the young manouria's food when they don't come out and eat:

This type snail only showed up here on this property about two years ago. Prior to that there were NO snails here. I must've brought in some eggs on a plant????? When I first discovered them I thought they were some sort of water snail because that's mainly where I saw them, but now I'm finding them all over, but always under something - the food dish, the waterer, etc. I had no idea they share the tortoises' food. I only hope they're not toxic.

They are might be “killer” snails, decollate. They eat regular brown snails, along with decaying matter. You can buy them at nurseries for snail control. They are from the Mediterranean so likely not problematic for testudo types; I couldn’t say otherwise. Perhaps your neighbor brought some home and they bred like crazy?

We couldn’t keep them going at our last house when we had a brown snail population so congratulations?!
