Soxi have looked at hundreds of pictures of sulcata hatchlings and I've noticed that some hatchlings have smoother less defined edges and some have more defined edges like notches.
For example:
These hatchlings have less pronounced and more smoothed out marginals mainly on their sides.

This is not my tort but a pic of the rear notches. Mine is just as defined as this one.

Do these differences in marginals tell us anything about the hatchling? Perhaps health, sex, diet, living conditions, a burrower, behavior, or any sort of info about these creatures? I'm very interested in all of your thoughts.
