mark sumthing? What can i mark?

i just hatched sulcata tortoises, Is there something i can mark on his shell, that is safe to identify a certain tortoise? or any suggestions? Thanks

I believe some use nail polish but on the scute only.

It doesn't last long from what I've read.

how about crayon? non toxic, but I don't know how long it will last.

I think a crayon sounds like it would work....hey weren't you going to paint some cinder blocks lime green? How did that project turn out? :)

I use nail polish. Put one dot in the middle of a scute. I have a 3 year old tortoise who still has his dot tho, so not all will disappear...:)

Oh yeah i havnt got to that yet but i will post picks when i do it.

Hi Paul:

I have a young desert tortoise that came into the rescue with two of his siblings. They each had a different color of nail polish in the center of a vertebral scute. I adopted out his siblings, but decided to keep him because he's colored different from normal. After two winters here (about a year and a half), he still has this big, pink spot on his back.
