I am moving out in a few weeks into a new place, but there is a week between move-out and move-in. My Russian tortoise and I will be staying with a friend. Do you have any temporary enclosure suggestions?
He is a 15 year old adult male Russian tortoise. He's going to try to escape from whatever you put him in. How about a plastic kiddie pool from Walmart? You would need some kind of lid.
Is this an adult tort? What part of the country are you in? Could he go outside in a temporary enclosure?
Put him in a deep enough box or bin that he can't get out, with newspaper under him. Make the paper a thick pile depending on how long he'll be in the car. When he soils it, you can take a few layers out, and still have paper under him.He is a 15 year old adult male Russian tortoise.
I will be able to take him out into their yard as it does not have any pesticides or insecticides sprayed. The kiddie pool idea is great!!
What about traveling by car? Any suggestions?

Lay a towel in the bin so he can burrow under it and feel safe. Yes, it will get soiled, so maybe use one that you can throw away after.
Then lay a towel over the whole bin to make a 'cave', dim and comfy. Just be mindful of temps as you travel...don't let him get too hot, but don't aim the AC at him either.
Be very careful having him outside if he's not in an enclosure! He is going to walk a lot, looking for home. Tie a ribbon or balloon to him, and don't take your eyes off him for a second!
