Normally, I pull mine off ebay! Coastal is running a Black Friday special...so give him a try! Powersun is the BEST hands down! I would say a Russian would do fine with a 100, but I'd need to know the dimensions of his enclosure...pictures would be nice, too!

You get what you pay for as with most things. I agree with Dean that Powersun is the way to go. Look around for good deals online, Petsmart or Petco usually have them for $80 for a 100W.

I think it's more preference and opinion. What really makes anything the "best"?:)

I think a 100 Watt is good for Russians. Some new data is due out soon from http://www.uvguide.co.uk/mercuryvapourlamps.htm, but previously Mega Rays & T-Rex Active UV Heat were found to have the best output and general confidence (same bulb), then Powersun. Honestly I wouldn't buy anything but those three because I haven't seen data on them. Without a UV meter, you don't want to get something that hasn't been proven. Reptile UVB bulbs aren't something to skimp on, as if your tort can't get outside for regular sun, these bulbs are the next best thing and are what can keep your tort from having serious health problems (you need calcium too though). Make sure you write on your calendar to replace it yearly, although even sooner is better. Mega Rays should be shipping really soon (although the site says back order, on the side panel they say they have more bulbs on the way than orders). Haven't seen the T-Rex Active UV Heat for awhile. SO, if you need one immediately, Powersun 100 Watt is a good choice. Remember your ceramic socket hood fixture, lamp stand (or other way to keep it stable with the bulb face parallel to the substrate with adjustable height), and accurate thermometer like a temp gun.

Zoomed Powersun 100watt. They are a bit more expensive, but the piece of mind is worth it.

I've been raving about buying the Powersun off ebay for under $45 shipped...for the 100 OR the 160. Well right now, LLLReptile has them for $45 shipped...Black Friday expands:p
