i just built this cage for our new Sulcata Tortoise. for some reason i can not keep any humidity it says right around 45-50 i have been pouring water in his cage in the coconut doesn't seem to help much. if i spray water with a spray bottle got up to about 80 where i want but drops right back down. the temp is about 80 then just right above 100 in the hot spot

That is a nice looking set up :D . Have you tried to cover the top at least half to 3/4 with maybe a piece of plywood cut to size or with a piece of plexiglass? Covering the top will help with the humidity retention....:p also if you cover the top be sure to keep an eye on the temps as they may increase as well and need adjustment....

Hi bpaasch:

Welcome to the Tortoise Forum!!

What would you like us to call you?

And may we know appx. where in the world you are?

Covering or partially covering like ascott suggests will help.

that looks like a cool setup :D I would add more coir to around 3inches or so and then make sure the top is covered so you can maintain humidity...I use foil on mine and it has worked GREAT...gluck.
