This is the new Leopard I mentioned a few weeks ago. Finally made it here today after a 4 day tour of the northern United States. Boy were my nerves a mess. Wont let that happen again for sure.

Im undecided on sex. about 7" SCL. Danny? Chris? Someone? lol The anal scutes arent flared out like my male Leopard's are but I just dont know.

And I really hope this pink in between scutes is not what my mind is telling me it coule be.

From a reputable source the pink looks like new, rapid growth. WHEW!

And male. :(

Anja: Your new tortoise might be too small to tell. For right now, it looks like female. Here is a plastron comparison of a male and female breeding age. The first is the male. Note that his anal scutes resemble a handle bar mustache.

Anja, maybe you do have a girl. You deserve it after having to go get your driver unstuck and all. (Left you a message on the AZ board as well.)

Thanks everyone, I guess Ill just take the wait and see approach for a while. lol Danny and EJ both say male. I took the chance, hoping it was a female because all of the pics I got were grainy cell phone pictures and the price was not too terribly bad. Oh well....win some lose some, 'cept I always seem to lose when trying to find female torts! hahaha

Yvonne I think you should just send all those Leopards to ME! *VERY BIG GRIN*

Nah you don't ALWAYS lose! Just with almost every type except Red-Foots! You've had great luck with Red-Foots, methinks!

Boy what a terrible time you must've had waiting. I must have missed what happened, but I can invision everything going wrong. 4 days is nothing in the life of a tort, but my word, here we have snow, ice freezing temps. He could've died in 4 days. Good reason to hold off shipping,if I ever had to.
Glad things are looking fine. I really think those leopards are just so cool!
So where will he stay for how long, before you have him with your others? And what will you do (vet wise?, fecals for sure, do they do blood tests routinely?)
Na

He is in a separate enclosure of his own until everyone goes outside once Spring arrives and the temps are high enough. Then the Leopards will go in their own enclosure outside.

I will monitor for any signs of anything wrong, I was a Vet Tech for about 15 years. I really need to pick up a microscope so I can do my own fecals but for now if I see anything funny looking I will take one down to the Vet's office and have them take a look at it. I keep all necessary meds on hand that I might need for anything imaginable. :)
