Presented as a male.I plan on taking this little one in, but if it's male i'll have to rehome it.

Kind of hard to tell, but I believe it is male, any thoughts? Has severe shell rot.

That said, if she has had horrible care and too small of an enclosure then maturity could be delayed. I had a rescue leopard everyone swore was a female. Once I rehabbed him and he got better and caught up to the size he should have been from the get go, it turned out to be a male
But as of now, yours looks female.

I thought that too. I just can't bare to leave the little guy in the pet store I work with.

Totally understand. But while you take her in, try talking to them and seeing if they will either stop selling tortoises or care for them properly.

Yes, it DOES have a little female tail, however, the cloaca is a slit, which means male. Sometimes males low in the pecking order who are kept with dominant males don't develop male characteristics until they are separated from the dominant male. Only time will tell.

It's not an animal in their care, but a surrender. The same store I got my recent rescue from.

He was raised alone, and us a neglect surrender to the pet store.

I think you will have to give her some time with the proper care and see if she stays a she or catches up and ends up a he.
