@Yvonne G @Tom as some of you know. Ms.Sully laid a clutch on eggs about a week ago. 10 out of the 12 broke. I was feeding Ms.Sully this afternoon. She urinated had a bowel movement. Then she laid another egg. I didn't touch the other eggs. This eggs shell was pliable. Should the eggs shell be pliable or hard?
Is it normal to have a egg laid a week later?
When she walked over it. The yolk came out. I was actually thinking as yellow that the yolk. I wonder what a tortoise egg would taste like. Has anyone ate a tortoise egg?20241222_153806.jpg

I heard at the swap meat …
That they taste a little Sandy and are thicker than regular eggs.
My Sally laid one like this…
It was soft but then hardened soon after.
The yolks were much harder to break than a regular chickens egg yolk.
Just my two cents Ray…
Please let @Yvonne G and @Tom
give you their experience with eggs. :)

A lot of times first time moms drop eggs that have under-calcified shells, and sometimes no shell at all. I call this "priming the pump". Their body is getting ready for egg laying and those organs and processes are not quite functioning at 100% just yet. Her next clutch will probably be spot on. Make sure there is sufficient calcium and protein in the diet for egg production. Florida soils and the plants grown in them are often calcium deficient. Some people toss calcium carbonate powder all around to improve soil quality, but it can wash away with all the rain. Use high calcium foods, but it also won't hurt to use some calcium supplementation in the food a couple times per week.

Most weeds, mulberry leaves, hibiscus leaves, opuntia...
Thanks Tom, so laying a egg a week later. Is probably caused to being her first time? I have a mulberry tree started and Rose of Sharon. Also have plenty of hibiscus and opuntia. I have been giving her a cuttlefish every week. But she doesn't finish it. I will start adding calcium to her food as you described.
