When ya gotta go…. Ya gotta go?
Labor is NOTHING to play around with Ray!
I would have expelled my eggs on your PORCH if I was in labor!! 😂🤣

Poor little Gopher tort.
Is she yours?
Or did she just stop in for a ….well…
An emergency?
Make sure she is ok or I won’t sleep!!
And keep Mr. Opo outta sight!
He’s already had his way with another lady of his choosing!!
Tell him to take a cold shower! 😝
It is a wild tortoise. You are not allowed to keep them. If they come on your property. You can let them stay, but you can't fence them in. Your property must not be closed in. They need the ability to leave when they want to. She buried her eggs and went into the vacant lot next to me. That must be where she has her burrow.

She laid her eggs in the front yard. Ms.Sully and Opo are in the backyard. Where she laid the eggs it is kind of protected in a flower bed. I will keep a eye on them. It takes about 80 days to hatch.

Maaaaan Ray!
You got a good life over there in Florida!
The only thing I get to see here in NI are skunks, those d*m chipmunks, deer and on the occasion….maaaaaybe…..a crane flew over head a couple of days ago.!!!
I almost peed my pants!
It was a big white long bird with long legs and a wingspan of epic proportions!!!!
I still think I was seeing things but it flew right over my head in the backyard from tree to tree?? It must have been scared or something because seeing a crane here was no different than seeing an alien ship land on the driveway! 🤭🤯

Hey Ray

Here is a quick diagram of how i had things set up.

(1) Kane Heat Mat on the floor
(2) Radiant Heat Panels mounted to ceiling
(3) Heat pad and panels all connect into the Thermostat
(4). Thermostat temp probe inside the enclosure
(5). Set the thermostat to 80-90
(6). Plug the thermostat into power

Hi! I did this same setup last night but the ambient temp kept rising too far above the selected temperature. I have the 18x18 Kane mat and 80 watt RHP plugged into same thermostat. The outdoor temp was 65. I set the thermostat inside the box to 78 degrees with 1 degree differential. The heat would kick on at 77 degrees, then continue rising to around 81 degrees. How do I keep the heat from getting so much higher than 78? I’m so confused by all the information on heating. I’m trying to understand how the Kane mat and RHP on the same thermostat are able to keep the right temperature. I called Kane customer service and they had no idea what I was talking about.

Sorry I missed your text. 81°f is fine. You will have to get to know your heating system. You might find the thermostat set at 78. Gives you over 80. If you don't have, get a infrared temp gun on Amazon. That will give you exact temps wherever you point it. Don't point at eyes, not good for the eyes.

Looks like Opo and Ms.Sully are parents. I am in Michigan. My lawn care guy found this little one in my driveway. I thought I took care of the eggs. But must not have done a good job. He looked for more tortoises but didn't find any. My lawn care guy is going to take it. IMG_20250724_122639.jpg

Second one found yesterday. I hope not too many more. The first 2 both have good homes. I personally know them. I have one other person who I know that will take one. They have watched Opo grow up and know what it takes to care for them. After that I am not sure what to do. I wouldn't give to just anyone. Hopefully it will all work out.
