Finally found someone strong enough to get Opo on a scale. He weighed 105lbs,I thought he would be heavier. It is a good scale and was accurate when two people checked their weight.
I am thinking of a strap/cradle to make to pick up Opo.
If I can get something designed, with my prosthetic arm. I will be able to lift Opo. View attachment 398099
Opo looks pretty happy in the little field of blue and white flowers every where. Looks to be even a lot of fruit on the opuntia. Yum! ok I'll pray 🙏 they can come up with a bionic seat belt and an arm like a crane just for you 🤞 I figure you'll need it by the time he grows up 😊😉

My backyard was covered with those blue and white flowers. Opo has cleaned up about 1/2 the yard of them. He eats the whole plant roots also. So in the summer when we get lots of rain. Most of the yard is bahai grass. The cactus are full of the flowers. The kind of cactus I have those flowers. They are full of pollen, when you pluck one off. The pollen comes falling out from the flower.

Hey Ray,
I know this sounds crazy but I designed a custom made lifting contraption that I think might give you some ideas?
I have been using this for years without fail.
I got an old towel and cut it up to the size that I needed. I used thick twine to sew on duffel bag straps and whamo!!!! A contraption to pick up my 100lb. Sulcata when my back went out.
I also built a small ramp and lay it on the ramp and taught Sally (my Sulcata) how to walk up and onto the contraption. When she reaches in the middle I kinda grab the straps and put them together on top of her and pick her up.
It’s almost like how they lift dolphins out of the water. Except I don’t use a crane.
(God knows I NEED one!)
ALSO , I put a “slider” under one of the ramps edges so I can kick it out of the way when I have her in the air.!
It sounds hilarious but it really is effective!
I swear!!!
Anyway here are pictures and I hope it helps or at least gives you an idea of what you need to make. ❤️🤕

The little black circle is to show you the “slider” that I use under a corner of the ramp.

Once you have your tort on the lift. When you lift off the ramp. Do you worry about the tort getting out of balance and tipping forward or backwards?

Get one Ray! LOL

C10 , I like this! I tried without success to lift either Opo or MS sully...
I think it was Opo but 120 lbs that's 30" wide means full bend....full bend + 120lbs exceeded Jeff's back strength...by a lot im ashamed to admit.
I know where you are coming from. From a guy that could dead lift 750 lbs. I would hate to think what my strength is now. If I was not a amputee and had trouble lifting Opo. I would be very disappointed in myself. My only way I monitor my strength now. Is in a sitting position. I can still lift a 40lb bag of salt and throw it on my shoulder. When I can't do that I will have to figure out another way to monitor my strength. I really need to be get back in the gym. But just thinking about it makes me sore.

No because I pick her up sideways.
When she walks onto the towel thing I grab the straps and pull them up over her then I stand against her side and take a deep breath then lift her. She is facing forward and I am on her side. Does that help or answer your question?
Are you gonna make me post a video and be finally seen by everybody???? 😳🤣🤭

I am sooo sorry for not explaining that on the first place!! Duh!…
The ramp is for making her higher off of the ground so I don’t have to completely bend over with a bad back.
On the floor I would have to bend way down and use more “back strength “ that o just don’t have.
If she walks up the ramp I meet her at like knee level so I can just bend at the knees.
Mind you… it still is a heavy lift but it’s not at an angle so that my back is being forced to work 100%.
Maybe I do need to post pictures or a video..
Thanks Ray!….
Now I have to go and get my hair and nails done!…. Throw in a makeover too! 😖😝😩

Dear Chef -we know you are beautiful and kind and funny and brave, whatever you look like (and Sally agrees) -but it would be great to be able to put an image to the person we admire.

Wait???…..WWWHHHAAAATTT?????
Video???
Pictures????
But…. What if you are all completely disappointed??
Expected something else???
What if you are shocked into a zombie 🧟 like state???….
I fear the worst ALWAYS.
I cannot reveal my identity for the better of humanity!
And for the fears of blinding you with my pasty pail winter look.!
Even snowmen have more of a tan than I do right about now! ☃️⛄

No… no…. NOPE!
Pictures will have to do ….🤭🥺

Pictures would be wonderful, Chef - actually I can't always get videos to work on my computer ! But no cheating, like wearing a veil over your face, or a Santa mask ! Or a hippopotamus mask, for that matter ! When Zola and I say goodnight to little Gary every night, it would be lovely to be able to visualise you as well as him.
