I have been wanting to get my Russian some natural sun over the summer, but my dad has been treating the back yard. I had the idea to by a plastic tub and use that as a portable enclosure for out back porch, just to let Freddy get a couple hours of sun in the afternoon-evening. Has anyone had any experience with this sort of setup? I was thinking either a blue rubbermaid or a clear steralite, but don`t want him to over heat.

You should also be forewarned that if you leave your tortoise outside in a tub and do not happen to be at home when it rains, the tub can fill with water and the tortoise might possibly drown. So if you want to leave a tortoise outdoors in a tub and cannot be there constantly, drill some drain holes in the bottom of the tub to let rain water escape.
