Plastron problem

Hey, I got a tortoise a few days ago and today I noticed he has a problem in his plastron. It's almost like a dent. Can anyone tell me if this is serious, please?

By the way, it's strawberry on my thumb!

I can't tell how fresh that is in the pic. Is it an old injury, or something new? If you drop some hydrogen peroxide into the hole, does it fizz?

That looks like a puncture mark from a canine tooth. Do you have a dog? Are there opposing scratch marks on the carapace?

I don't know whether it's fresh. It isn't bleeding. I only noticed it about an hour ago. I don't have any hydrogen peroxide.

I don't have a dog, but his previous owners had a few puppies.

His carapace seems ok, there's no damage that I can see. He's been lying on my foot, so I've had a good look.

In a straight line to the left of your thumb? I think that's quite ok. Maybe it looks different in real life?

Yes, that's the right place. It looks pretty similar in real life, but it dips a little bit so I thought I'd ask for advice. I'm glad you think that he looks ok, the rest of him seems fine too, thank goodness.
