Is it normal to have some pyramiding in redfoots????

Is it "normal"? Yes, it is getting to be quite the normal look for RF tortoises (and Sulcatas). Is it something that can be avoided? Yes. RF tortoises need a lot of humidity in their environment, especially in their first year of life. The humidity helps the shell to grow smoothly.

Welcome. Redfoot Babies will need 75%+ humidity 24/7 to not pyramid. You will need a closed chamber set-up to easily accomplish this. Once you get it set up correctly, it is super easy!

Your cute little Russian doesn't require as much humidity as the redfoot or yellowfoot. Russians are grassland tortoises whereas red/yellowfoots are mostly rainforest torts. Here's the Russian hatchling caresheet with more details about what they need:
