yup my backyard will be full of it!! i got plenty from a couple weeks ago rain!
Boy! What a rainstorm this afternoon! I planted a bunch of seeds - my shelled friends will be having a lovely spring!

Was strange seeing the normal desert areas looking like swamps as I drove by. Really noticed stuff greening up around San Bernadino/Ontario area.
Reminded me of Florida. Florida calls itself the sunshine state, but whenever I am there, it's the rainy state.

It rains here every year for 6-7 months. It's so soggy outside now that everything is turning into mush and rotting.

Lots of green outside w/the rain but my tortoise is asleep!
When the rain stops, I think I'll go dig for some huge dandelion and mallow plants so I can transplant them to my yard.

Mallow is rampant at my place. I've been feeding it to lots of animals, including my torts for years. Is it good stuff? They sure like it.

There was a tornado warning here in Irvine! Apparently one was spotted forming and heading in this direction. I don't think it ever touched down, but it was definitely not something I expected in this area.
A small tornado touched down here in Fresno day before yesterday. Only thing that happened was for a very old tree to topple over.
We're having much, MUCH rain today with a few occasional sessions of very strong winds. When I got home from the Post Office my power was off. I went around and closed up all the tortoise shed doors to conserve whatever heat was still in there. The temp is only down to 50 degrees, so its not critical to the tortoises yet.
I was just getting ready to put a plate of food (from the refrigerator) on my wood stove to heat up for lunch when the power (and the microwave, thank goodness!) came back on!!
I'm pretty sure this is the most it has rained here since that last El Nino California had many years ago.

My Daughter was at "Outdoor Science School' in Malibu Canyon, and had to come home early due to the possibility of flooding. She was disappointed.

we got over a foot of snow over the past few days, and its not letting up here in mass... the grocery store is the only place to get greens for me right now! cant wait till spring and my garden coming up, i planted tons of stuff for libby last year, and dozer is gonna LOVE it!
Okay, I take back my Woo Hoo from yesterday. Having some flooding problems now. I moved my Sulcatas outside in 2003 and I've never had to bring them back in in all that time. Well, their pen was flooding and the water was about to reach the heat mats on their raised floor. So tonight, for the first time in 7 years, they are sleeping indoors. In the monkey hut.
I unplugged the mats and propped the floor up on blocks to keep them out of the water.
Will that suffice instead of splashing mud-puddle water on my car?
