Hey again,
Hope you all are doing great. I've just about finished tanks enclosure and wanted to get some opinions on the lights that I've found. Is a blue light that produces heat at night ok? Would this dome fixture work? Also found some bags of different grasses and wanted to see what you all thought. Sorry for the questions, trying to be a good pops to little manimage.jpg image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

I don't use them lights . I have a uvb 10.0 t8 2 ' foot lamp . A che on a thermostat . Then two 40 watt lamps you buy at Wal-Mart for day time heat . Them lights you buy at pet stores cost to much . As for hay if its a baby they won't eat it .

The black light is ok for night time. That's what I use mostly. But you'll need a UVB light for day time. That day light only provides heat. If you buy a Mercury Vapor Bulb, you'll get UVB plus heat all in one bulb.

I don't like the dual light fixture. I like to set my day light at one end of the habitat and my night light at the other end, then I place the hiding place under the night light. Don't let the pet store talk you into buying the spiral-shaped UVB bulb. They can damage eyes.

Your hay/marigold mixture will be ok for your tortoise in a couple to three years, but baby tortoises just don't show an interest in eating hay.
