Hello. I just have a minor question about my
little redfoot's bottom shell.
He is rather a very active well eating fellow
after I made some changes to his enclosure.
He is very healthy. He is now reaching 5 month.
as I was bathing him today,
I noticed that his belly seemed unusual compared to
other redfoot hatchling bottom shells.
I guess mine wasn't as smooth as theirs, and had
rather dents or wrinkles which I describe it.
I don't see any sign of shell rot yet,
and it is rather soft, which is normal I believe for a hatchling.
If any of other users can please tell me, if
the belly looks fine for my little guy, or
if there is any symptoms I should be concerned with,
please let me know!
Thank you all!

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I THINK I may be seeing the beginnings of shell rot. You might be keeping your substrate a bit too wet.

As to the wrinkly appearance, that is just from being all folded up inside his egg. It will smooth out over time.

O No....Thank you for your kind reply first of all...
If it is the beggining of a shell rot...what should I do..?
I changed out the substrate today to sphagnum moss
for the whole enclosure...and I guess I would now go
easy on the humidifier...
Is there any kind of treatment I should be doing on the
tortoise's shell? Or changing the substrate would prevent it?
