that looks like they'd be able to climb out pretty easily and it's better to have actual coco coir as to hold humidity i noticed you guys are pyramided already but if you added the humidity you could insure any new growth is smooth i'd also advise getting a terra cotta water dish that type of dish you have has been known to make torts drown by flipping in it

i'd
add real substrate and plant it heavily
change the water dish to something easier to get in and out of with low sides
and add lots of hides

+1. The climb out as well as tip-over factor looks very bad. As does the pyramiding. Also, those guys cr-p a lot. That mat is gonna get really nasty really fast. Some potting soil from Home Depot is about $1.50 a big bag. It holds humidity and its easy to replace and keep clean. +1 on everything above. However,I use the glazed dishes that go under potted plants. They seem to not hold bacteria and they can be very easily cleaned. What part of the world do you live in?

The cocomats always keep moisture, I spray then daily. I've used soil in the past and it's a big mess!! It ended up housing bugs, gnats, crickets, and earwigs. I'm going to change the mat once a month. The water dishes have very little water in them so they cannot drown. I've been watching them and their nails slip off the plastic so they can't climb up. I have a heat clay bulb on top of the water dish.

What can I use to make nice hideouts?!!!

image.jpg A simple to make cheap hide that holds moisture, believe it or not, can be easily constructed from a good solid cardboard box! And, when misted, they hold moisture. If it starts to not hold its' shape, just craft a new one. I just made a new one today in 5 mins, no extra costs, and my Sully knows to crawl right in. Any how, this is one idea.

I agree about the mats - you should switch them out for real substrate. I use coco coir which does NOT house bugs, does not mold, and is perfectly fine when ingested. It really does look like they can climb out. I would suggest a closed chamber to hold the humidity. I have a shower curtain over mine as a cheap fix.

It's to hard to compose something stable because they bulldoze it down. I had this nice sealed hideout with the fogger but they kept moving it and stuff. Hard to maintain, I have to think of something that will not be moved or damaged. They are wild redfoots

Red foots are pretty good bulldozers. I keep my repti-fogger above and have the hose coming down. I have found that to be the best, for me, way to keep the humidity up. When I first got my red foot, he was 4 inches and smooth. He right away started to pyramid. I misted, misted, poured water, misted. It did not help. Now his inside home is a closed place with the fogger. He is beginning to smooth back out.
