How does every1 feel about a repti fogger? Do they work well for humidity?

I don't like to use humidifiers. To me its the equivalent of putting a band aid on an open would. Design and build your enclosure correctly and you don't need a humidifier to maintain proper humidity with ease.

The Repti-foggers frequently have problems, but ZooMed will stand behind them and give you excellent customer service.

This all is so hard. I want my tortoise to have a smooth shell. I'm on a budget how can I build a good enclosure?

Read Toms threads below in my post and build the type of closed chamber he did threads on.
As for the humidifier, I used one, just bought a small personal human humidifier. If you can build an enclosure and not use the humidifier, it's cheaper and lots less trouble,

I like to think of my humidifier as more of a "safety net". I have a closed chamber, my humidifier is connected to a Reptitherm and only turns on when the humidity drops below 80%. It really only turns on after I open the enclosure for daily feeding and soaks. But it's piece of mind when I'm at work knowing it's there.

What type of humidifier do you use?

I use misters with my old world CHAMELEONS. They benefit from lower temperatures and higher humidity at night and needs good airflow and screen cages.
Tortoises do best in closed chamber enclosures. They hold in humidity and warmth without added complexity.

BTW if you ever DO NEED a misting system. Buy a MISTKING basic unit and just add accessories as needed.
MISTKING is a great manufacturer of very high performing and long lasting pumps, etc.
I buy mine from JOSH'SFROGS.COM
