Russian Tortoise shell

Hello! I’ve had my Russian for about four months now. He was living in a glass enclosure when I got him and was only fed romaine lettuce every other day and didn’t have access to clean water. Well now he has a 4x8 wooden tortoise table, fresh water daily and gets a large variety of different greens, weeds, flowers, plus a vitamin powder on his food once a week. But his shell looks so dry to me, I treated him for dry rot when I first got him just to be safe as I wasn’t sure if he definitely had it. Can you guys tell me if get a shell is supposed to look like this? Thanks in advance!

I forgot to add that they NEVER soaked him and he now gets a soak every other day for 20 mins.

Hi looks good to me you have new growth and the black pigment is filling out. I would get some coconut oil and put on kitchen paper and rub in weekly to moisturise the top scutes and edge avoid face. You will see a difference with the regular soaks as it helps hydration 20 mins is good but if you have time up to an hour also works. I weigh weekly and keep a log as it is nice to see growth and also monitor weight loss.
