Scramble scute photo

Weirdest scutes I have ever seen. Anyone have a tortoise worse off? Wish I would have been able to know what kind of incubation set up this girl came out of, so strange.

Both of mine are minimal, just an extra scute but I love the look of yours

A scute is those sections that you see covering the carapace. This animal has a few extra ones.

Not sure exactly old, just acquired her recently. The people who gave her to me had owned her for 3 years; so she is older than that for certain and she was not a hatchling when they got her so maybe 5ish years. Just a guess though.

My Russian has an extra one near the back of her shell, it is not as noticeable because of where it is. I think your tort is beautiful, very individual

Does this occur in the wild? Or is it just captive incubated eggs?

Mine does not have any extra scutes but extra scutes i fine no bad effect. They still have a great personality

Yeppers I do love them interesting scute tortoises. In fact, I often buy such tortoises just because of that reason. So if you ever tire of her, she is always welcomed at my place.
