setting up a thermostat

so I am going to set up a ceramic heat lamp and a thermostat yet i have no idea on how to do it and i also looked on youtube yet found nothing any help would be greatly appreciated

im keeping her indoors and she is in a box w/ sand and a water bowl and a uvb amd heat lamp combined the box is small keeping her inside for winter

Look at the top of the sulcata section and read the thread about how to raise a healthy baby. What kind of UVB lamp do you have? You want the lamp to run on a timer for day and night. And you want the CHE to run on the thermostat around the clock. Tell us the Size of your tortoise? size of your box? Wattage of your CHE? Thermostat type brand model?

Plug the thermostat into the wall. Plug the CHE cord into the thermostat. Put the thermostat's probe on the cool side of the enclosure away from heat sources and near the substrate, but not touching the substrate.

Then adjust the dial on the thermostat until the temp is correct. Make small adjustments to the thermostat and give it an hour or two to stabilize.

What size tortoise and what size box? No tortoise should be hosed on sand. That is very dangerous. Impaction is likely. I would change that ASAP.
