Hi, this is my new Russian tortoise, Franklin. I got him off of Craigslist from a family that no longer wanted him. They said that they got him three years ago as an adult (I'm guessing that means he was wild caught) from a reptile store called Hoffman's Reptiles. I have had him for three days now and he is doing great. However one thing i noticed is that he has a few white spots on his shell that almost look like the top layer chipped off. I am guessing this is some form of shell rot but am not sure. It doesn't seem to be soft and fuzzy, but just several cream colored dots. Does this mean that it is healed shell rot from his days in the wild or is it something that needs treatment? All help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmmm? Have you tried soaking him and use a soft bristle brush and gently scrub the entire shell....then keep any eye on him to see if any of the spots resurface...:D

You will also get other folks lending you their opinions and help....:D
