Okay, I also soak him daily. Is this stil necessary to do even with a hide box? Maybe I can soak him every other day

So last night was the first night he slept in his humid hide. We had to take him out this morning to eat and he hasn't eaten. Is he okay?

Is it above 80 degrees in his hide? If not, he could have gotten too cold. What are the temperatures in the rest his enclosure as well?

His enclosure is about 85 and the hide is 80. It has a dark covering and the light is close to it but not directly on it.

You use a CHE (ceramic heat emitter). These heaters produce no light, and will not disrupt your tortoise's day-night cycle like other night heat lights do. It is a good idea to run these on a thermostat, as they can become quite hot.

What is the temperature in his basking spot?

His basking spot needs to be closer to 90-95. If he cannot warm up fully in the mornings, he will eventually succumb to an RI. Try putting a regular incandescent bulb that you would normally use to light your house over his basking spot to warm things up a little.

Any kind of bulb that produces heat, yes. Use any wattage bulb you need to reach the proper temperatures.

Just be careful and monitor temps to make sure it does not get too hot.
