Hello I am sort of new here I had an old account but it account but it got deleted. I recently noticed small white bugs in my tortoises enclosure they appear to be able to jump. I was wondering what they are and if they could be harmful? Sorry about the image quality there's more than I circled but I think y'all get the point. Also they are kinda greyish sometimes.Untitled design.png

You have yourself some springtails, a helpful clean up crew! Some folks actually buy them to start colonies in their enclosures, nothing harmful😊

Since you’re starting up a new account, it’d be wonderful to get a re introduction! Feel free to answer any of these, no pressure!

What species do you have?
What are your temperatures like all over? Ie basking temp(directly under the bulb), overall day temps(middle and cooler side), night temps?
What kind of basking bulb is being used specifically? Packaging photos are good if you have any
Do you use indoor uv? If so what kind?
How’s humidity?
What’s the substrate?
What’s diet been like with you?

A photo of the full set up would be wonderful! Welcome back🐢💚

Thank you that is what i thought but I got worried when it jumped. You may have known my old account @TheTortoiseking but I lost the email so I lost the account.
I have a Russian tortoise who I adopted and is believed to be around 11. Basking temps are around 95 and ambient around 80 with a cool side of 70 night temps 70. I am currently using a 45 watt incandescent bulb and an arcadia proT5 24 watt 20 inches above his shell. The humidity averages out at around 50%. He is on coco coir with orchid bark on the top and he eats spring mix with some hibiscus as 2 times a week calcium and somtimes mazuri tortoise pellets. His enclosure it two five foot kiddie pools on top of each other with the top cut off.
