I tried giving my three-toed cuttlebone a while back and he never had any interest in it, but he really likes to go after snails in his terrarium. I figure its about the same idea for keeping his beak trimmed, just wanted to get another opinion. He's a very determined guy when it comes to his snails. He'll often sit chewing on it for 30 minutes or so before cracking it open for the treats inside. Today he was biting on a snail and he shot it out of his mouth about 8 inches away. He was sooo confused that his snail disappeared and looked at me like "DID YOU TAKE MY SNAIL?!". After a few minutes of digging down looking for him I picked it up and tossed it back over to him so he could finish the job. I guess theres no such thing as a free meal even for box turtles :D.

Leave the cuttle bone in. They typically ignore it for extended periods, then gnaw on it when they want it.

Great source of calcium, not so for beak trimming. Continue to offer both won't hurt.
