Had gas never do e this before a d I would love to put his log in again cuz he lives sleeping in it but I just don't want him to fall and I'm not there what could have caused him to act like this

U know, my Sulcata hatchling has been doing the same thing w/his log... I actually covered it w/his substrate and made kind of like a ramp to get in and out (where he usually falls) to make it a little easier to flip back over, but he continues to do it...

Climbing is a part of the natural things tortoises do out in the real world. I would think at his age, he should have no problem getting back over. Can he right himself?

Its normal behavior. If he has trouble flipping himself back over, take out the log. If not, leave it in. Seems like its a very short fall and the activity gives him something to exercise his climbing skills & coordination.
