Hi there!
So I broke my collarbone a while ago so now I cant drive for a bit, and so I asked my parents to pick up some coconut substrate for my tortoise, Gwynivere, but they got a different kind than I usually get- its like a coconut husk. Would Gwyn be freaked out if I use this new substrate this one time, or should I just wait till I can go and get the usual kind? Also, my mom (an impulse buyer) picked up a 'heated cave' and Im not sure whether thats a major 'dont' for tortoises or not, so I wanted to ask before I think of adding it to my tort table. Please let me know!

The heated cave is completely unnecessary and will create too much heat at night for a Russian tortoise.

Coconut coir/fiber is better than coconut husk, simply because the particles are smaller, and therefore offer more surface to absorb moisture. It also feels more like sand, so it is easier to walk on and dig in.
