Substrate Depth?

I'm designing a larger enclosure for my 2 cherry heads (who live separated). Right now I have 7in of cypress mulch, which seem seems to be working well. But they are only 3 or so and still growing. I'm hoping for this new enclosure to be suitable for when they are fully grown. Is 7in deep enough for cherry heads, or should I plan for deeper?

Also, one of them if probably female, should I have any considerations for egg laying later in life?

You can always go deeper in spots but 7inch should be plenty deep enough

Wish I could answer the second part better, we’ve always been told females may or may not lay infertile eggs once sexually mature, so guess it’s one of those things that’s 50/50, if your female does start showing signs she might want to lay, ie pacing, being restless, digging in a trance like state etc, make sure she has access to substrate areas at least 10-12inches deep. Hopefully others can weigh in here

Will Cherry heads lay eggs in cypress mulch if its deep enough, or will I want to think about different substrate mixtures if she decides to start laying?

I’m imagine coir might be better but I’ve not had experience with our red foot laying
