What substrate should I provide for my star tortoises?
Right now it is just plain old garden soil with dry compost and I want to improve
I’m in Mumbai so humidity is bit more but sunlight is normal

If your Star tortoise is very young, you'll want to use something that you can moisten. Some sort of hardwood bark would be suitable. Lots of people use coco coir - that's a product made from the outside husks of coconuts and ground up fine. I don't like it because it's messy, but it's clean and you can moisten it. You can buy it online.

I can moisten coco coir twice a day using spray water
but how do I clean it?
