Did you just do four stakes up, grommets at each corner and hang? I thought about that originally! Do you have a photo?

I have mine tied off to various things, depending on location - trees, fences, balcony railings, etc.

Here's a shot of the grommet. I bought the kit from Home Depot. Once I figured it out, it takes about 3 seconds to pop one on. I also used an edge tape to make the edges tidier. If you are handy with a sewing machine, you can run a couple of stitches on the edge tape. Or if you are less handy (like me) you can use glue and/or staples.

Here's a shot of a smaller patch of shade cloth tied off to some trees.

Better to have too much shade than not enough when its this hot.

Once temps start nearing 100 all the shade in the world isn't going to help. They need to be able to get underground or inside a cooler structure.

Sprinklers or misters can help if your situation prevents an underground retreat, but shade alone won't matter once ambient starts climbing above 100 degrees.

I agree. He has a hide that is sunk and right now his temp in it is (on average) 17 degrees cooler. I do have a stand mister (well, 4 actually) that I can/will use but want to get the shade up first, test it and then test with the mister. Luckily bringing him in is easy!

Oh! I like the edge tape. I was just going to use pinking shears to cut it. I am also a stapler...lol. I can sew a pretty straight line but dragging all that gear out is not as fast as using the stapler... (That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)
