My African Sulcata Tortoise, Turbo, has a swollen area, the soft tissue that is on the left and right of the anus. He is a year and a half old and shows no signs of pain when I touch the areas. They are stiff to the touch rather than the normal soft/squishy. This is a new occurrence seeing as I soak him daily and he gets a soft scrub down with a toothbrush when he is soaked. I was curious if there was any opinions on what this could be. He has bowel movements daily and urinates daily. There has been no interruption in his normality of movements and behavior either, but the area is noticeably swollen. Thank you for all and any help.
Info:
Weight- 3.5oz
Age- about 1 year to 1 1/2
Fed- Mazuri, grass, hay
Treats- Romaine Lettuce, Broccoli, Carrots, Zucchini, Cucumber,
Soaked daily
Bowel Movements Daily
Urinates Daily
Fresh water daily
Cool side 75 degrees
Warm side 85-90 degrees
Uvb Bulb present and kept up to date
Substrate- Eco Earth (coconut fiber stuff) that is 5-6 inches deep that he loves to dig in.
Vitamins- Calcium drops in water (as directed), vitamin spray on treats.
Seeing as I live in Oklahoma and it is currently snowing Turbo stays inside. His enclosure is 75 gallon wide tank, and roams the room under my very close eye. Before stated, I know the floor gets cold so he roams on a heated blanket.
I hope this is all the information I need to provide to help answer my question. My little Turbo has been with me a year now and is my little sassy man (or girl lol). I just worry. I just noticed the swelling today so if it is still there by Monday I will take him to a specialty vet here in town. I may just be a worry wart but I want to keep my little man healthy.
Thank you for any and all help!!
