Hi everyone
I’m hoping someone can help me.
I’ve had Taco for just over 12 months. He’s a 2/3 year Greek (mix) thanks @HermanniChris for the confirmation, possibly female but too early to tell.
Since I’ve had him he’s lived outside in the Mediterranean Sun, he has quite a large enclosure with 2 ‘bedrooms’. Constant water and normally eats everyday. And seemed like a happy contented Tort.

Last week ( after doing research on this site) I decided to improve his enclosure.
I dug up the very hard, Sun-baked ground, mixed with topsoil and sand, and then i added a layer of bark.
Since then he seems to have changed his habits!
I’m hoping that these are positive changes, but I’m not sure.

He burrowed deep into the soft substrate of his bedroom of choice...but stayed there for 72 hours without eating or moving at all!
Yesterday I (rightly or wrongly- due to worry) lifted him, bathed him gently for 20 mins. He then fed a little, but disappeared into his other bedroom to burrow again for the last 28 hours!
The daytime temps are still high 20-30 centigrade, last evening only dropped to 20 degrees.
Should I be worried??
I am!!
After Chris’ confirmation of Taco being a Greek, used to arid ground, I’ve removed the bark layer...
PLEASE can you advise or reassure??

Could be he's liking to be able too dig. Temps to warm or sulking because you changed things on him.
If he were mine, I would get him out every day and put him by his food. Then I would let him do what he wants. He might just need time to realize it's still his old enclosure and that it's still safe.

Thank you for your reply! I’ll try that. Do Mums ever stop worrying about their Babies? :(:tort:
