Temp.....

I have a 2 year old tortoise he is very active but im not 100% sure what the temp that my vavarium should be i have a exo terra thermometre can anyone help please ? Gaz

For a Russian it should be near 100 under the bulb and gradually fading to cooler as he gets farther from the basking spot, down as low as mid 60s if fine, as long as he has a warm spot to go to when he wants.

My baby Russian's enclosure has 95 degrees under the basking light. The other half is basically our house's temperature. I keep a humidity and temperature thermometer from petco in the tank. They are those round ones around ten dollars. I keep them at his shell height.

this is what i use for my Russian. i don't leave it in, i just check the temps with it weekly or if i think something is wrong.

these are not as accurate but can be left in the enclosure at all times without dying like the digital one.
