During some of my readings of Sulcatas I’ve come across “Thinline Sulcata”. Is that a variety of Sulcata, if so, how is it different from a common Sulcata?

Thanks.

Never heard of a "thinline" sulcata. There are no defined subspecies sulcata. The only variation I am aware of that is commonly accepted is the Sudanese sulcata that tends to be higher domed and gets much larger.

I believe there may be some confusion with translation if you are looking at some ads internationally. Some areas do refer to the sulcata as a ridged or grooved tortoise as the growth rings are so pronounced in the shell. In fact, the scientific name, sulcata, is from the Latin word "sulcus" which means furrow or groove. So in a technical sense, the sulcata is the grooved tortoise.
