So, somehow a bird is finding it's way into my basement. It leaves every night and has been coming back and hanging out in my tortoise pen all day for about a week now. It's even bathing in my tortoise water dish, eating out of her bowl, and going in and out of her house! I bought a bag of bird seed and starting putting a bowl of it down there every morning when I feed the Torts lol.Screenshot_20220202-114108.png

OMG! How cute is that? Do you know what kind of bird it is?

It appears to be a Carolina Wren rather than a finch. The light stripe above and behind the eye is a field identification characteristic.

Here is a link to a photo.

Yes and I think the beak is too long for a finch. But it's all rather splendid.

Is that your Redfoot pen?
That bird better be careful.
Redfoot love chicken nuggets I hear

I've been seeing feral cats in my heated night houses now that it's gotten cold and I only have the one tortoise
Very true ?

It always makes me happy when I notice the wildlife enjoying my tortoise yards. It's great to see the bird and frog in there!

Very cool & I agree with Zovick’s ID. We have a lot of those little guys here, often playing hide-n-seek all day long in our garage & back garden shed. Looks like you are going above & beyond with this one…food, water, a play mate too. Nice.

Just got home and the bird is gone. He probably leaves the nest every morning and tells his mom "I'm going to hangout with the tortoise, be back later"

Set out some wild bird seed for Woodstock.
