Tortoise and Bird Friendship.

So, somehow a bird is finding it's way into my basement. It leaves every night and has been coming back and hanging out in my tortoise pen all day for about a week now. It's even bathing in my tortoise water dish, eating out of her bowl, and going in and out of her house! I bought a bag of bird seed and starting putting a bowl of it down there every morning when I feed the Torts lol.

That's pretty cool, and he's photogenic. I have European starlings that somehow get in my attic.

Not sure but looks like a Finch of some sort.

And this guy has taken up residence in the pond this winter lol. It's a whole freaking jungle downstairs.

It appears to be a Carolina Wren rather than a finch. The light stripe above and behind the eye is a field identification characteristic.

Yes and I think the beak is too long for a finch. But it's all rather splendid.

Back in the 1960's I used to feed my Redfoots Gaines Burgers about once a week or so.

Very cool & I agree with Zovick’s ID. We have a lot of those little guys here, often playing hide-n-seek all day long in our garage & back garden shed. Looks like you are going above & beyond with this one…food, water, a play mate too. Nice.

Just got home and the bird is gone. He probably leaves the nest every morning and tells his mom "I'm going to hangout with the tortoise, be back later"

Well the bird is still here and seems pretty content. I've even seen it in the evening a couple times now so I'm not sure it's even leaving. I've named him Woodstock ?
